Flight to Lisbon
Our trip to Portugal will begin with passport and baggage check-in, followed by a flight to Lisbon – a city whose unique atmosphere is shaped by its architecture, narrow streets, and expansive beaches.
Belém, Nazare
After breakfast, we will drive to the Belém district. While strolling along the Tagus River, we will also see the beautiful Monument to the Discoveries and the famous Belém Tower. We will take a look at the monumental Jerónimos Monastery from the outside.
We’ll take a short break to relax in a local pastry shop, where we’ll taste delicious “Bethlehem cookies” served since 1837 according to a secret and closely guarded recipe.
Next, we’ll head to Nazaré. This town is known primarily for its local fishing traditions as well as for the enormous waves where surfers set world records during the winter season.
Check-in at the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay.
Alcobay, Fatima
After breakfast, we will head to Alcobaça – the former seat of the French Cistercian order.
Next, we will drive to Fatima, one of the most important pilgrimage centers in the world. The city gained immense fame due to a series of Marian apparitions between May 13 and October 17, 1917.
Return to the hotel in Nazaré, dinner, and overnight stay.
Coimbra
After breakfast, we will head towards Coimbra. The famous academic center located on the Mondego River will allow us to see landmarks such as the clock tower Torre, the Old University, Biblioteca Joanina, the arcaded buildings of Sala Grande dos Actos, Largo da Portagem (the main square in the Baixa district).
Transfer to Porto for check-in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Porto
After breakfast, we will take a stroll through the historical part of Porto. We will start with a visit to Cordoaria Square, where the Portuguese Center of Photography, the University of Porto’s rectorate building, Liones Square, the Carmelite Church, and the city’s symbol, Clerigos Tower, are located.
Next, we will move to Freedom Square and the Avenida dos Aliados. We will also stop at São Bento railway station. Winding medieval streets will lead us from the Cathedral Courtyard towards Infante Dom Henrique Square, where the city’s famous landmarks and Mercado Ferreira Borges are situated.
After a lunch break, we will embark on a 45-minute cruise on a typical rabelo boat on the Douro River, allowing us to enjoy the most beautiful views of the city’s skyline. At the end of the day, we will visit the port wine cellars, where a tasting awaits us.
After crossing the upper level of the historic Dom Luis I Bridge, we will return to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay.
Douro
After breakfast, we will head towards northeastern Portugal to the wine region of Douro. It is one of the oldest wine regions in the world. We will visit a vineyard for a wine tasting along with lunch.
Next, we will go to the town of Pinhão, from where we will embark on a cruise through the most picturesque stretch of the Douro River.
On our way back to Porto, we will stop at a family-owned vineyard for another wine tasting. Return to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay.
Sintra
After breakfast, we will head to Sintra. Thanks to its unique location, the area experiences a specific microclimate that prompted the royal family to build summer residences here several centuries ago. One of them is Quinta da Regaleira.
Another estate is the National Palace, with its origins dating back to the medieval period. This building also served as a leisure place for the rulers of Portugal. Transfer to the hotel for check-in. Dinner and overnight stay.
Lisbon
After breakfast, we will head to Lisbon. We will visit the lower and upper town, exploring landmarks such as Avenida da Liberdade, Praça Restauradores, the historic Elevador Gloria and Bica, and viewpoints: miradouro Portas do Sol and miradouro Senhora do Monte.
We will visit Praça do Comércio and Praça do Rossio. There will also be free time to immerse ourselves in the atmosphere, music, and scents of Lisbon.
The day will be crowned with dinner at a typical Portuguese tasca with a Fado music concert! Return to the hotel late in the evening. Overnight stay.
