Flight to Santiago de Chile
Our adventure kicks off with passport and baggage check-in, followed by a flight to Santiago de Chile. This dynamic, cosmopolitan city is renowned for its lively atmosphere and distinctive character, promising an unforgettable experience for every traveler.
Get ready to be enchanted by Santiago’s unique charm as our journey takes off.
Punta Arenas
Upon our arrival in Santiago de Chile, we’ll swiftly transfer to a domestic flight heading for Punta Arenas. After checking in at our hotel and taking a moment to recharge, we’ll delve into exploring this captivating city.
Our tour includes a visit to the renowned Plaza de Armas, dominated by a monument in honor of Magellan, and surrounded by colonial-era residences from the early 20th century.
Following this, we’ll enjoy a leisurely stroll along the scenic shores of the Strait of Magellan, where we may spot cormorant colonies, and occasionally, dolphins, whales, or sea lions.
The day culminates with a delightful dinner and an overnight stay in Punta Arenas, ensuring we are fully prepared for the exciting adventures that await us.
Stanley, Falkland Island
After breakfast, enjoy some leisure time before transferring to the airport for a flight to MPA, the Falkland Islands. Upon arrival and a brief rest at the hotel, our city exploration begins.
We’ll visit key landmarks, including the Anglican Cathedral, Whalebone Arch, Jubilee Villas, the Margaret Thatcher Memorial, and the Liberation Monument of 1982. A visit to the Historical Dockyard Museum will deepen our understanding of the island’s maritime history.
We’ll also tour the Government House, the residence and workplace of the Governor of the Falkland Islands.
In the afternoon, we’ll head to “Gypsy Cove” to meet Magellanic penguins and make a stop to explore the intriguing shipwreck known as “Lady Liz.”
Our day ends with an overnight stay at the hotel, marking the start of our unforgettable Falkland Islands journey.
Kelp Point, Stanley
Welcome to the Falkland Islands adventure! Today, we embark on an exhilarating off-road expedition, navigating the rugged terrain in 4-wheel-drive vehicles. Along the way, we’ll marvel at the stunning nature and historical landmarks.
Our journey includes encounters with giant elephant seals, a visit to the St. Mary wreck, and the pleasure of observing a lively colony of Gentoo penguins.
In the afternoon, we return to Stanley, where you can relish the memories of this wildlife-filled and adventurous day.
Island of Sea Lions.
After breakfast, we’ll board a flight to Sea Lion Island, a designated National Nature Reserve and Ramsar site—a testament to its ecological significance.
Situated in the southeastern part of the Falklands, Sea Lion Island boasts dramatic high cliffs and unique natural beauty. It is renowned as a prime habitat for sea lions and one of the best places to encounter Killer Whales.
The island is also home to thriving colonies of Magellanic and Gentoo penguins, as well as the remarkable Southern Giant Petrels. Notably, Rockhopper penguins, imperial cormorants, and striped Caracaras, birds of prey from the falcon family, also find sanctuary here.
As the day comes to a close, we’ll return to Stanley by flight for an overnight stay at the hotel, cherishing the memories of our extraordinary encounter with Falkland Islands’ diverse and fascinating wildlife.
Bleaker Island
Today, we’ll fly to Bleaker Island, a renowned bird sanctuary within the Falklands, celebrated for its exceptional wildlife. Here, you can observe Gentoo, Magellanic, and Rockhopper penguins, as well as a vast colony of imperial cormorants.
Bleaker Island is home to an impressive 47 breeding bird species, and its shores are frequented by sea lions, while Commerson’s dolphins and southern right whales often grace the surrounding waters.
As the day ends, a breathtaking sunset over Sandy Bay, with penguins gathering on the sandy shores, awaits. We’ll spend the night in a comfortable lodge, immersed in the natural beauty of this remarkable sanctuary.
Stanley, Cape Pembroke
After breakfast, and contingent upon our flight schedule, we’ll return to Stanley. Our exploration of the Falkland Islands continues as we venture to the northernmost point, Cape Pembroke, home to a lighthouse located over 7 miles from Stanley.
This area also holds a poignant monument in memory of the sinking of the warship “Atlantic Conveyor” in 1982, a tragic event in which 12 sailors lost their lives.
We’ll conclude our day with an overnight stay at the hotel, reflecting on the history and beauty of the Falkland Islands.
Volunteer Point, Stanley
After breakfast, our off-road adventure begins as we journey to Volunteer Point on the eastern side of the Falkland Islands. This pristine sanctuary hosts a variety of penguin species, including Kings, Gentoos, and Magellanics, as well as a diverse range of bird species, both endemic and non-endemic.
En route, we’ll pass through historic battlefields from the 1982 conflict between the UK and Argentina. Starting from Johnson’s Harbor Farm, we’ll acquaint ourselves with the regulations for the protected Volunteer Point area.
You’ll have free time to soak in the beauty of this remarkable place among the wildlife. At day’s end, we’ll return to Stanley for a comfortable overnight stay, cherishing the memories of our Falkland Islands adventure.
Fitzroy Battlefields
Today, we visit the Fitzroy Farm Settlement to delve into the Falklands’ history. We’ll experience life on the farm during the summer season, gaining valuable insights.
Our tour includes exploring the intriguing Stone Runs and Rivers of Stone rock formations. We’ll pay respects at memorials for the British ships “Sir Galahad” and “Sir Tristram,” as well as the Welsh Guards monument honoring those lost during the conflict.
We’ll also explore battlefields around Stanley, including Two Sisters hills and remnants of a downed Argentine Chinook helicopter. In the afternoon, we return to Stanley, offering time for last-minute shopping and a farewell stroll before our overnight stay at the hotel.
This day is a chance to reflect on the Falkland Islands’ history and resilience as we wrap up our unforgettable journey.
Punta Arenas
After breakfast, we’ll ensure your smooth transfer to the MPA airport for your flight to Punta Arenas, Chile. Upon arrival in Punta Arenas, you’ll be promptly transported to your hotel.
Punta Arenas, Santiago de Chile
Following a hearty breakfast, we will arrange your transfer to the airport for your flight to Santiago de Chile. Here, participants will enjoy a layover before boarding their return flight to their respective places of residence.
