The flight to Venice
Our Italian vacation will begin with passport and luggage check-in. We will embark on a journey to Florence, the capital of Tuscany, to experience a journey full of flavors and beautiful views. We will explore a land full of works of art, picturesque hills, cypress trees, vineyards, and olive groves.
Florence
After landing, we will transfer to the hotel for a short rest. Our Tuscan journey will begin with exploring Florence. We will visit the Galleria dell’Accademia, where we will see the famous “David” by Michelangelo and paintings by Botticelli.
Next, we will head to Santa Maria del Fiore, known to Italians as Il Duomo. We’ll have lunch in a restaurant serving local cuisine and visit the largest historic market in Florence – Mercato Centrale.
We will then visit Piazza del Mercato Nuovo, where we’ll see the famous wild boar sculpture. Our next stop will be the Uffizi Gallery.
The day will end on the panoramic terrace located on the roof of the Hotel Continentale, where we can admire the sunset. Overnight stay in Florence.
Siena
Tuscany also includes Siena, where we will go after breakfast. Siena is famous for its spectacular architecture, enchanting cathedral, and the horse race known as Palio.
We will visit Piazza del Campo, a shell-shaped square with a floor that slopes down towards the Palazzo Publico building. The square is surrounded by medieval buildings made of dark brick.
Overnight stay in Siena.
Montepulciano
Early in the morning, we set off on a trip through the Val d’Orcia valley, south of Siena. It is one of the most beautiful places in Tuscany, with rolling hills, individual country houses, and rows of cypress trees.
We will spend more time in three hilltop towns. This is how Tuscany looks! Montalcino is renowned for Brunello wine and the fortress on the hill. Pienza offers impressive views of the surroundings, magnificent architecture, and Pecorino cheese. In Montepulciano, we will taste the famous Nobile di Montepulciano – wine produced from vineyards covering the surrounding hills.
Overnight stay in Montepulciano.
San Gimignano, Volterra
After breakfast, we will visit the towns of San Gimignano and Volterra. San Gimignano is known as the “Manhattan of Tuscany” or the “town of beautiful towers.” We will admire well-preserved frescoes and the 13th-century well on Piazza Cisterna. Before continuing our journey, we will take a short walk through the cobbled streets of the town.
Volterra is a charming Tuscan town on a hill with a rich history dating back to the Etruscans. There, we will see the ruins of a Roman amphitheater, Piazza dei Priori, and the Palazzo with beautiful frescoes. For those interested, there is an opportunity to climb the tower. We will also enter the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, where a beautiful coffered ceiling is located.
Overnight stay in Volterra.
Pisa
Today, we will visit the historic city of Pisa with its famous Leaning Tower. We will go to Piazza dei Miracoli to see the Duomo complex and climb to the top of the Leaning Tower.
In the cathedral, we will see the beautiful pulpit designed by Giovanni Pisano in the early 14th century and an amphora on the right side of the apse. After the visit to the Field of Miracles, we will head to Piazza del Cavalieri. For the rest of the day, there will be free time to shop in the surrounding stores or enjoy coffee at the nearby Caffe dei Cavalieri.
For the overnight stay, we will go to the nearby city of Lucca.
Lukka
After breakfast, we will embark on a bike tour to explore the major attractions of Lucca.
Our exploration will begin with a visit to the Romanesque cathedral built in honor of the Archangel Michael. San Michele al Foro is a Romanesque masterpiece that was built on the site of the ancient Roman forum.
The next stops on our route will be two towers: the Guinigi Tower with its oak garden at the top and the taller Clock Tower. For those interested, there is an opportunity to climb to the top.
After the cycling adventure, we suggest further discovering Lucca on a walking tour. We will savor the taste of local cuisine with delicious treats, coffee, and cold cuts. Overnight stay in Lucca.
