DAY 1
Departure in front of the parish office early morning.
Route passing through Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. Arriving near Indianapolis in the afternoon. Transfer to one of smaller basilicas of the United States in Covington. Representing the testimony to the faith and determination of the church community – cathedral is a monument of Gothic architecture, attracting thousands of tourists all over the world each year.
Arrival in the afternoon at Noah’s Ark in Williamstown, KY – replica built according to the descriptions from the bible. Measuring 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high. Visiting exhibitions presenting the biblical stories of Noah and rich collections of models of various animals – located throughout seven floors of the building that was built over the course of 6 years. After lunch (own expense) drive by bus to the indoor botanic garden including over 3,500 species of plants, a waterfall in the rainforest and butterfly shows. Among other exhibitions, a house of ferns and palms- in which a tropical rainforest has been created. As well as a collection of citrus trees and a garden where desert plants are grown.
In addition, visiting an orchid garden and learning how perfume producers use their fragrances and the Chinese art of creating miniature trees in the bonsai gallery. Evening transfer to walk alongside the illuminated promenade of downtown Cincinnati – including dinner and overnight.
DAY 2
Breakfast followed by visit to The American Sign Museum – the largest public museum in the United States dedicated to signs. In this museum there are over a hundred years’ worth of history. Including a strange, yet interesting collection. As well as, the art behind creating these various types of signs. Additionally, a rich collection of signs ranging from old-fashioned, to pre-electric, through neon signs in the form of Art-Deco style, to the latest technological signs. Transfer to walk alongside “Main Street USA,” with illuminated storefronts and workshops – which produce neon lights for the museum. Next, come the wonders of the underwater world. The Newport Aquarium -accommodates the most exotic aquatic creatures: albino alligators, sting rays, and the world’s first rope bridge. Including the history behind a wrecked ship in the aquarium. Afternoon departure from Cincinnati to Chicago by bus. Transfer passing through Indianapolis for lunch in the evening. Followed by trip back to Chicago.
