DEPARTURE RIO DE JANEIRO
Meeting of the group with the guide at the check-in desk at the O’Hare airport terminal in Chicago. Passport and baggage check-in. Flight to Rio de Janeiro.
RIO DE JANEIRO
Arrival in Rio de Janeiro. The program varies depending upon the arrival time. With an arrival in the early morning, transfer to the hotel and check-in. After lunch, a walk around the hotel and getting to know the Copacabana and Ipanema districts with a beautiful sunset. During an afternoon arrival – transfer to the hotel; short walk around the hotel, and an overnight stay.
CORCOVADO - MARACANA - GUANABARA BAY – SUGARLOAF MOUNTAIN
Breakfast. The beginning of discovering Rio de Janeiro. In the morning, we will ride the historic cable car to the top of Corcovado, where, next to the spectacular statue of Christ the Redeemer, we will admire the wonderful location of the city. Then we will go to the Maracana district with the most popular stadium in the world. On the way to Guanabara Bay, we will stop at the sambadrome to celebrate this important place highlighted by the Carioca carnival along with samba steps. At the end, we will enter the historical gate of the city, that is the Sugarloaf Mountain. From there we will be able to admire the beauty of Guanabarra Bay and the old part of Rio de Janeiro. After so much excitement we will go for an early dinner at the churrascaria and taste the delicious steaks of Brazil.
OLD TOWN OF RIO - SANTA TERESA
Breakfast. Gold, Portugal and the Capital – a rich day in the old town of Rio de Janeiro, where we will discover a lot of history and beautiful architecture of the city. A walk among beautiful buildings from the 19th century and modernist buildings from the 20th century (Cathedral, Parliament, Paco Imperial, Church of Our Lady of Carmel, Praca Maua and many other nooks). Lunch break, and then a visit to one of the oldest districts of the city of Santa Teresa. We will take the oldest surviving tram in Rio, the famous bondinho. The picturesque ride along Arcos da Lapa will add color to the beautiful view of the old town. A walk through the streets of Santa Teresa among the magnificent buildings from the 19th century will lead us to the famous Selaron stairs. Descending them will end this wonderful day with the history of colonial and imperial Rio de Janeiro.
BOTANICAL GARDEN – SAMBA SCHOOL
Breakfast. A visit to the Botanical Garden, one of the oldest gardens in the world. It contains a magnificent hedge of royal palms and a thousand different species of flora and fauna of Brazil and more areas as well. In the afternoon, a visit to the samba school warehouses, where we will learn the history of this beautiful dance and samba parades from the carnival. The rhythms that have become a dance that captivates the whole world are the greatest carnival spectacle on earth. Preparations for parades take a whole year and during this visit we will learn about them step by step.
ANGRA DOS REIS
Breakfast. Today we will go to Angra dos Reis, one of the favorite places where the inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro take a break from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. Time for some relaxation.
PARATY
Breakfast. A day of sunbathing, after which in the afternoon we will go to a beautiful colonial town from the gold trail – Paraty. A walk through the streets of Paraty will take you to the distant times of the colony, and the architecture will make you feel like on the set of the famous TV series Slave Isaura. This seaside resort is a pearl of colonial architecture. The old colonial town was founded in the 17th century. In the past, the town was a hiding place for gold, which was waiting to be transported back to Europe. Today, tourists from all over the world are attracted by small churches, cobbled streets and a unique atmosphere of this town. Evening walk through the streets of the city and relaxation by the Atlantic Ocean. Overnight stay in Paraty.
ILHA GRANDE
Breakfast. A cruise to Ilha Grande will reveal the unique charms of the wonderful coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, which is the Costa Verde, or Green Coast. Relaxation on the wild beaches of the island. In addition, among the beautiful nature, we will taste the cuisine of Brazil. Return to Rio de Janeiro. Overnight stay.
